Our organization has purchased a number of licenses for Office 2010 Standard and Professional. We have the keys and the original VL media, and everything works fine. Problem is, that every time I deploy it (either version) to a client machine, there are about 20 updates that have to be installed. Even pulling the updates from WSUS, it takes quite a while to install the updates. Most, if not all, of these updates are included in SP1. What I am trying to do, is create a new deployment package with SP1 included, for Office 2010 Standard and Pro Plus.
I tried downloading the retail iso from technet, but of course, it didn't work with our MAK. We purchased our licenses through the state contract, so they don't appear on the volume license website for us (our windows, technet, and office 2007 licenses do though), and therefore I am not offered Office 2010 downloads from there. I contacted our reseller, who provided me with a download link from their site, but it turned out it was the same media we have, with no service pack applied.
So, where and how can I obtain updated VL media for our office products, and why on earth are they not offered on technet? Fyi, i just downloaded the english msdn retail build of proplus incl. Sp1, and the 9 msp files in the x86 updates folder, are simply those extracted from the sp1 patchfile.

That's as complicated as 'integrated' gets, with Office these days. So, if you have the VL build of proplus you need, then just extract the 9 msp files from the english sp1 download, and add to the updates folder, and you have exactly what you are seeking. X64 is also 9 msp files (different files, of course) adjust as needed for other localisations (I am spoit, I only have english to deal with;) Don.
Don, Thanks for the response. I did see those builds you linked to before. I was concerned, because normally I see a separate VL build on technet, for operating systems at least. Since I didn't see one for Office, I thought maybe there wasn't a separate build.
So I tried them. But these ISOs do not have an admin folder for setting up customized deployements, and will not accept a Volume License MAK. I might try the second solution you suggested, but frankly I really don't like the idea of individually extracting all those updates, and then having to check and test that they all are applying properly. I really would like to just get my hands on VL media that has SP1 integrated, so I don't have to worry about it anymore. Still, I appreciate the solution you did offer, and I will keep it in mind. Thanks, Bryan. Oops, you are absolutely correct, those builds have Retail keys offered, when I drill down into them. There doesn't seem to be a VL build/key offered through my MSDN either.

We do have access to them via our VLSC logon. I was fairly sure that I've read (other than the Admin bits) you could use a Retail build with VL keys if you apply the generic KMSclient key and then apply the MAK, but I haven't tried that myself, and it doesn't seem to me that it should succeed that way.
As for the Admin folder, I have read that you can download the updated OCT/templates and add them to a Retail build so you can customise it, but again, I've not tried that. As for the Updates, and the 'integrated' SP1, I'll have to check my VLSC options, but as far as I know there is no 'true' integrated/slipstreamed SP with either 2007 or 2010, it's just extract the MSP's into Updates. And this is what I've done, so far, with 2007 and 2010.
